MIDI CONTROLLER
The AKAI PRO APC64 is a USB MIDI controller for Ableton Live software, equipped with a matrix of 64 velocity-sensitive, backlit pads with poly-aftertouch. You can use these to launch Clips, play melodies and chords in "Notes" and "Chords" modes, or play electronic drums in "Drum" mode. 8 fully assignable Touch Strips allow you to control any parameter in real time: from track volumes in the mixer to virtual instrument, device, and effect parameters. The APC64 features an integrated step sequencer that can be used without a computer to transmit sequences and melodies to two MIDI OUT ports and 8 CV/Gate outputs, allowing you to turn them into sound with your hardware synths and drum machines. A MIDI IN port is also included.
Technology and experience at the service of music production
From Akai Professional, the company that designed the first Ableton Performance Controller (the APC40), established the pad-matrix style control for the Ableton Live software Session view, built the first Push for Ableton itself, and has been the undisputed leader in the music production sector for years thanks to the MPC series, comes the new USB MIDI pad-matrix controller with 8 assignable touch strips and an integrated step sequencer. The AKAI PRO APC64 allows for complete control of the Ableton Live DAW software, both for music creation in the recording studio and for live performances.
APC64: a powerful tool for composition and live performances
The Akai Professional APC64 is a perfect tool for musical composition with Ableton Live or—when disconnected from a computer—with your hardware synthesizers, including modular gear. You can compose melodies and chord progressions by utilizing the dedicated "Notes" and "Chords" modes, which transform the 8x8 pad matrix into an expressive musical palette. When you need help finding inspiration, experiment with the "Probability" or "Mutate" functions to take your tracks in unexpected directions. Then, capture your results instantly with the integrated 32-step sequencer, which supports up to 8 separate tracks.
The 8 Touch Strips of the Akai APC64
You will have everything within reach and under control in the studio, and you can add expression to your live performances with the 8 Touch Strip controllers: assign and control vibrato, modulations, filter cutoff, and other parameters. Adjust volume or effects. Manage your mix while always keeping everything under control thanks to the visual feedback on the APC64's color screen, which displays information in real time about what you are controlling and the parameter values.
